CE marking is a health and safety mark confirming that equipment or products meet the required legislative conditions for free circulation within the markets of EU member states. Following the EU's New Approach policy, the mark indicates that products have been produced in line with human-health and environmental requirements.

CE marking is also referred to as the CE mark, CE certificate, or CE label. It is an official mark valid in all EU member states. The CE mark is affixed to the product by the manufacturer. It is not, however, a quality mark or a warranty certificate: it represents the entry level of conformity. It shows only that the product meets the required minimum conditions for safety, health, and environment.

CE Marking Services From Sistem Patent Kalite

  • Operators that want to export their products to EU member states can obtain CE marking through Sistem Patent Kalite. Our offices across Turkey support CE marking consultancy, including Izmir, Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Adana, Antalya, Konya, Kayseri, and Eskisehir.
  • The EU introduced legislation to replace the various national conformity marks across the EU with a single mark indicating conformity with EU requirements. The CE mark signals that, in the event of a product nonconformity, the manufacturer will withdraw the product unconditionally.
  • From an export perspective, products that require CE marking cannot be exported to EU member states without it. Within the domestic market, products that fall within the mandatory harmonised regulations can only be placed on the market with the CE mark.
  • The CE mark is aimed at authorities, not at consumers directly. Products without the CE mark are classified as unsafe and cannot be placed on the market. A product carrying the CE mark is taken to have been produced in line with the applicable EU directives and can be traded across EU member states.

What CE Covers in Practice

Depending on the product, CE marking may cover essential health, safety, and environmental requirements, electromagnetic compatibility, low-voltage equipment requirements, machinery safety, and similar directive-specific requirements. Each directive sets the conformity assessment route and whether a notified body is required.
