CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) training addresses the obligations that the carbon border regulation under the EU Green Deal brings for companies exporting to the EU. The training covers the purpose of the EU Green Deal and of CBAM, the product groups covered by CBAM (for example carbon intensive sectors such as iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilizer, electricity and hydrogen), the concept and calculation of the embedded greenhouse gas emissions of products, data collection and obtaining emission information from the producer, CBAM reporting obligations and processes (the transitional period and afterwards), the relationship of CBAM with carbon pricing and its commercial effects on companies, and the steps to take for compliance. Because CBAM is a fast developing regulation that enters into force in stages, the training stresses that the current timetable and obligations must be confirmed from official sources. The training addresses the logic of calculating embedded emissions for the products in scope with examples.
The training is suitable for the sustainability, quality, foreign trade, production and management teams of companies that export to the EU or aim to do so (especially those producing carbon intensive goods); basic knowledge of the carbon footprint is useful. A certificate of attendance is issued at the end of the training. CBAM is a new regulation that enters into force in stages; the scope, obligations and timetable must be confirmed from official EU and national sources.
