ISO 14067 Product Carbon Footprint Training

ISO 14067 training teaches you how to calculate the greenhouse gas emissions of a product across its life cycle (from raw material to production, use and disposal), in other words the product carbon footprint. It addresses the life cycle (LCA) based approach, system boundaries and reporting. A certificate of attendance is issued to participants.

Training content

ISO 14067 training teaches how the carbon footprint is quantified at product level on the basis of life cycle assessment (LCA). The training covers the concepts of product carbon footprint (CFP) and the life cycle, the relationship of ISO 14067 with ISO 14040/14044 (LCA), definition of the goal and scope, system boundaries (cradle-to-grave and cradle-to-gate), the functional unit, the life cycle inventory (input and output data) and impact assessment, emission factors and data quality, calculation of the product carbon footprint, interpretation and reporting, and preparation for verification and declaration. The training is reinforced with a system boundary and calculation exercise on a sample product.

Who should attend and the certificate

The training is suitable for sustainability and environment teams, product development and R&D, quality and reporting officers and the relevant employees of organizations that want to calculate or declare the carbon footprint of their products; basic knowledge of LCA and carbon topics is useful but is not a prerequisite. A certificate of attendance or achievement is issued at the end of the training. Independent verification of the product carbon footprint declaration is carried out by an accredited verification body; the training builds competence in calculation and readiness for verification. Sistem Patent Kalite delivers the training and can provide consulting in product carbon footprint work (see our related carbon page).

Suitable for sustainability, product and quality teams
Basic knowledge of LCA and carbon is useful
A certificate of attendance or achievement is issued
Verification is by an accredited body; the training prepares you

Note: Training is delivered by Sistem Patent Kalite (Academy); participants receive a certificate of attendance or achievement. Training alone does not grant the related ISO certificate; certification is issued after the audit of an accredited certification body, and the training prepares you for that process. Internationally recognized qualifications such as Lead Auditor depend on the course being accredited or approved (for example by Exemplar Global or IRCA). Duration and scope are set according to your needs ().

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ISO 14067 Product Carbon Footprint Training explained

What is the difference between ISO 14067 and ISO 14064-1?

ISO 14064-1 covers the greenhouse gas inventory at organization (corporate) level; ISO 14067 calculates the carbon footprint of a single product across its life cycle (the product carbon footprint). One focuses on the organization, the other on the product; the two complement each other.

Is LCA knowledge required?

The product carbon footprint is based on life cycle assessment (LCA, ISO 14040/14044), so understanding the LCA approach is important. The training also covers the necessary LCA concepts; you do not have to be an LCA expert beforehand.

What about the certificate and verification?

The training gives a certificate of attendance or achievement. Independent verification of the product carbon footprint declaration is carried out by an accredited verification body; the training builds the competence for that calculation and for readiness for verification.

Why is the product carbon footprint important?

Customers, retailers and regulations (for example CBAM and sustainability declarations) increasingly ask for product level carbon information. The product carbon footprint is needed to meet these demands and to develop low carbon products.
