Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Training

Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action training builds practical techniques for finding the real (root) cause of nonconformities, errors and complaints and for designing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) that prevent recurrence. It works through tools such as 5 Whys, the fishbone diagram and 8D in a hands on way. A certificate of attendance is issued to participants.

Training content

Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action training teaches how to find the real root cause of problems and produce a permanent solution instead of temporarily removing the symptoms. The training covers nonconformity, error and problem concepts, the difference between correction and corrective action, problem definition and the data driven approach, root cause analysis techniques (5 Whys; the fishbone / Ishikawa cause and effect diagram; Pareto analysis; the 8D problem solving methodology; and where needed an introduction to fault tree analysis and FMEA), designing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) that match the root cause, effectiveness verification and prevention of recurrence, and the management and recording of the CAPA process. The training is reinforced with practical exercises on real problem examples. These techniques are fundamental to managing ISO 9001 and other management systems, food safety and customer complaints effectively.

Who should attend and the certificate

The training suits quality, production, process and continual improvement teams, employees who handle customer complaints and nonconformities, and anyone who wants to build problem solving competence; there is no prerequisite. A certificate of attendance or achievement is issued at the end of the training. Effective root cause analysis and corrective action sit at the center of the continual improvement requirement of ISO 9001 (clause 10.2) and of every management system. These processes can be recorded and tracked digitally with QMS Software. Sistem Patent Kalite delivers the training and can also support the setup and digitalization of CAPA processes.

Note: Training is delivered by Sistem Patent Kalite (Academy); participants receive a certificate of attendance or achievement. Training alone does not grant the related ISO certificate; certification is issued after the audit of an accredited certification body, and the training prepares you for that process. Internationally recognized qualifications such as Lead Auditor depend on the course being accredited or approved (for example by Exemplar Global or IRCA). Duration and scope are set according to your needs ().

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Training explained

What is the difference between correction and corrective action?

A correction removes the existing nonconformity (for example, segregating a defective product); a corrective action eliminates the root cause of the nonconformity and prevents it from happening again. The training teaches this distinction and how to design effective corrective actions.

Which techniques are taught?

Common techniques such as 5 Whys, the fishbone (Ishikawa) cause and effect diagram, Pareto analysis and the 8D problem solving methodology are covered in a hands on way; where needed, an introduction to FMEA and fault tree analysis is given. The right technique is chosen according to the nature of the problem.

Is this training necessary for ISO 9001?

ISO 9001 (clause 10.2) requires the root cause of nonconformities to be determined and addressed through corrective action. Root cause analysis competence is therefore important for ISO 9001 and other management systems to work effectively.

Is a certificate issued?

Yes, a certificate of attendance or achievement is issued. This certificate shows that you have been trained in root cause analysis and corrective action techniques.
