What Are the RoHS Restricted Substances?
The RoHS restricted substances and the maximum allowable levels for the six material categories are set out below:
Lead (Pb): <1000 ppm
Lead, lead-acid batteries, cable coatings, electronic components, solder, and the glass used in cathode ray tubes in the electrical and electronic sector.
Mercury (Hg): <100 ppm
Concentrated in metals used in the manufacture of electrical and electronic devices, batteries, switches, fluorescents, thermostats, and lamps.
Cadmium (Cd): <100 ppm
Cadmium is used in electronic materials, pigments, and vehicle batteries.
Hexavalent Chromium (Cr VI): <1000 ppm
Chromium-based forms can be non-toxic or can have the toxic effects associated with chromium VI.
Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): <1000 ppm
Flame retardants found in electrical and electronic home appliances.
Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): <1000 ppm
Flame retardants found in electronic and electrical home appliances. Printed circuit boards, and non-flammable toxic emissions.
Bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): <1000 ppm
Used in vinyl insulation on electrical wires and to soften PVC.
Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP): <1000 ppm
Used in vinyl insulation on electrical wires and to soften PVC.
Dibutyl phthalate (DBP): <1000 ppm
Used in vinyl insulation on electrical wires and to soften PVC.
Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP): <1000 ppm
Used in vinyl insulation on electrical wires and to soften PVC.
