GOST-R Certificate: Acquisition Process

In terms of the GOST-R acquisition process, products to be exported are first checked for conformity with Russian law through quality documents, audit reports, or laboratory tests. The GOST-R certification phase then begins.

Before the products are loaded into containers, an auditor assigned by Sistem Patent Kalite visits the organisation seeking certification and conducts a surveillance audit. The required analyses are carried out under the auditor's supervision, and any identified gaps are reported back to the organisation for closure.

The Russian GOST-R certificate is not itself a product certificate or a quality certificate, and it cannot substitute for one. Before each shipment, the certificate must be re-issued. Export to Russia is not possible without this certificate. Without it, the Russian importer cannot clear the goods from customs, and the shipment is detained at the customs point. To complete the export cleanly, product-level quality documents must be in place and audit documentation must be current.

In a GOST-R application, you will be asked for the pro forma invoice for the products under export, quality documents for the products listed on the pro forma invoice, audit reports, and laboratory test documents. Once these documents are reviewed and no gaps are identified, the GOST-R process is complete. The essential point is that the exported products must conform to Russian law. Once conformity is confirmed without issue, the GOST-R certification can be issued.
