Qualifications of an MSDS preparer
An MSDS has to be prepared by qualified personnel, not by any staff member with access to the product data. The preparer's qualifications are set by the regulation, and the certificate behind those qualifications is specific and auditable.
The person responsible for preparing the sheet has to hold a personal certification issued through an accredited certification body specifically for the preparation of safety data sheets.
That means the preparer has completed training delivered by an experienced body, then passed the certification examination, and holds the resulting certificate.
These certificates are valid for 3 years, and the holder has to renew the certificate every three years to keep the qualification current.
