The legal requirement for Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
The MSDS legal requirement in Turkey is set by the regulation published in the Official Gazette dated 26 December 2008, No. 27092 (Repeating). The regulation covers the preparation and distribution of safety data sheets (SDS/GBF/MSDS) for hazardous substances and mixtures, and makes both the preparation and the distribution a legal obligation that takes effect from the publication date.
Within the chemical sector, the document is widely known as a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and the regulation refers to it under that name in some places. The preferred technical term today is simply Safety Data Sheet, and that is the form in which the document operates in day-to-day commerce.
