BRC Broker, Agent, and Intermediary Standard
The BRC Global Standard for Agents and Brokers was introduced in 2014. It sets out the certification requirements for companies that provide purchasing, importing, or distribution services for products in the food or packaging supply chain.
Agents and brokers act at a critical point in the movement and trading of products. Their supplier approval, product traceability, and quality controls directly affect the downstream chain. The standard gives the market an audited reference for that intermediate step.
Purpose of the Standard
The standard defines operational criteria that support product safety, quality, legal compliance, and consumer protection. It focuses on supplier due diligence, documented traceability, the internal audit programme, and the agent's own management system.
Customer Confidence
Certification gives the agent's customers confidence that operational services and supply chain management meet an audited benchmark. Many retailers, brand owners, raw-material processors, and packaging converters worldwide support BRCGS schemes and accept the certificate as part of their supplier approval process.
Marketing Value
A BRC Broker certificate is a recognised reference in international sourcing. Certified agents can reference the certificate in supplier discussions, category listings, and tender submissions.
How Sistem Patent Kalite Helps
We run BRC Agents and Brokers projects as full engagements: gap analysis, supplier approval procedure build-out, traceability testing, internal audit, and Stage 2 certification audit preparation. For agents already operating under ISO 9001, we reuse the existing management system where possible to avoid duplication.
