Hygiene Certificate (GOST R Hygiene Certification)

Services in this category ▼

The hygiene certificate (GOST R hygiene certificate) is issued after products are tested in laboratories accredited by the Russian Federation. The certificate is granted through accredited certification centres, of which Sistem Patent Kalite is a partner operating the certification process.

If a product's GOST R conformity certification requires fire and hygiene certification alongside, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations ordinance of 8 July 2002 (No. 320) on products subject to mandatory fire certification, and the Russian state hygiene standards ordinance of 15 August 2002 (No. 325) on products subject to mandatory hygiene certification, apply. In those cases, the hygiene and fire certificates are obtained first, and the GOST R quality certificate is issued after.

The GOST R certificate scheme is audited by Rosstandart and the Russian Federal Customs Service jointly. The certificate of conformity is a written approval confirming that the products meet the applicable safety standards, and it is a prerequisite for clearing products through Russian customs and placing them on the Russian market. Since 1 January 1998, products subject to mandatory certification for export to Russia must carry the Russian conformity mark.

Hygiene Certificate

The GSEN hygiene certificate is required in Russia under the Consumer Protection Law for products that affect public health and is a prerequisite for related quality certification. Food consumed by people and children, clothing, cosmetics applied to the skin, food packaging materials and production equipment, and chemical components of furniture and metals all require the hygiene certificate, which is also the basis for the GOST R certification.

Categories That Require the GSEN Hygiene Certificate

  • All foods and beverages in contact with the human body
  • Cosmetic products such as fragrance and perfume taken through inhalation or skin contact
  • Clothing in contact with the body, bed linen, towels, and other household textiles
  • Machinery and equipment used in food production
