How the ISO 22000 Certificate Is Obtained
The route to the ISO 22000 certificate is as follows:
Through the Certification Process
The audit performed by Sistem Patent Kalite is a third-party audit. Operations that have set up and applied the system obtain certification after the process described below.
Operations that have set up the ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System and want the certificate first request a quote from the certification body. The fee is set based on the number of employees at the operation. Larger operations require more audit days, so the number of employees is the primary input to the audit planning. Once the quote is accepted, the operation submits the application to the certification body.
The operation fills out the application form completely and correctly, and submits the management system (ISO 22000) or the related system (ISO 9001, ISO 45001 (replaced OHSAS 18001), ISO 14001, ISO 10002, ISO 13485, IATF 16949, HACCP, CE, etc.) documentation and any additional documents to the certification body with the application.
The operation submits a copy of the relevant system documentation with the application. The lead auditor appointed by the certification body reviews the documentation and confirms whether it meets the standard requirements. If it does, the operation is scheduled for audit. If it does not, the operation is given a written report with the gaps to close. Once the gaps are closed, the audit is scheduled. If needed, a pre-audit visit can also be arranged alongside the documentation review.
