IFS PACsecure updates the concept of packaging across its full lifecycle, from production through branding, certification, visual identity, and commercial communication, in line with current industry expectations and the needs of packaging operators working with food manufacturers.

IFS PACsecure covers food-contact materials and secondary packaging. It was developed with participation from food processors, packaging-sector suppliers, consultants, and government representatives. It emerged from a consortium of more than 100 members led by US and Canada-based converters. IFS PACsecure is designed to drive packaging safety outcomes.

As companies in the packaging sector restructure in commercial and industrial terms within a changing social and economic context, IFS PACsecure brings together many elements into a single framework. The standard is primarily designed for food packaging.

Who Should Consider IFS PACsecure

IFS PACsecure is a fit for manufacturers of paper, plastic, metal, glass, and flexible packaging materials supplying into the food industry, and for manufacturers of secondary packaging used in the food chain. Retailers and food brand-owners increasingly request a GFSI-recognised packaging standard from their packaging suppliers, and IFS PACsecure meets that expectation.
