How the GLOBALG.A.P. Certificate Is Obtained

Sistem Patent Kalite supports the full GLOBALG.A.P. certification process. The scheme is available to agricultural producers, integrated aquaculture operators, and processing sites handling agricultural or aquaculture products. Producers can apply individually or as a producer group (for example, farmer cooperatives) and obtain the certificate.

GLOBALG.A.P. is the standard that sets out the quality requirements of modern agriculture. Built on European standards and guided by ISO/IEC 17065 (successor to ISO/IEC Guide 65) for product certification, it is today the most widely used agricultural standard in the world.

A certified product is listed in the GLOBALG.A.P. database and joins the certified supply chain, so it becomes visible to buyers worldwide. That market access is a large part of the scheme's commercial value.

Application Types

An application can be individual or as a producer group. Operations with a GLOBALG.A.P. registration number are audited once a year.

Group certification: issued to a group of producers that has set up a shared management system (for example, a cooperative or producer union). Under group certification, a sample of producers is audited each year.

GLOBALG.A.P. Certification Process

• If the operation does not have a management system in place, Sistem Patent Kalite provides documentation consultancy. The operation can also do this internally.
• Once the operation is ready for audit, it engages the certification body.
• The certification body provides a quote.
• Once the quote is signed, the audit contract is executed.
• The audit date is scheduled.
• Documents are reviewed.
• The on-site audit is conducted.
• If no findings remain open, the audit file goes to the certification committee for approval. If findings are open, a period is set for closure.
• The certificate is approved.
• The certification is published in the GLOBALG.A.P. database.
