What Is the Scope of the IFS Logistics Standard?
The IFS Logistics standard applies to companies that carry out distribution activities. It addresses the logistics operations of firms handling previously packaged products, covering the activities listed below:
- Packaging of pre-packed food items
- Distribution and storage activities
Transport Operations
IFS Logistics covers both food and non-food products. Version 2 of the standard was published in July 2012 and became mandatory for all in-scope organisations from 1 January 2013.
Reviews across storage, transport, distribution, loading, and unloading apply to every logistics activity covered by the standard, whether delivery is by road, rail, or sea. Products may be frozen, chilled, or ambient; all temperature states fall within scope.
