What Is IFS Logistics?
IFS Logistics was built to establish transparency, support the secure trading of every supply chain, and meet the objectives of industrial partnerships. It was developed specifically for loading and unloading activity, such as distribution, storage, and transport, and defines how operations should run in environments that handle food and non-food products.
IFS Logistics is the second standard published by IFS in 2006. It was built to secure the food-chain controls over every logistics activity for food and non-food products: transport, storage, distribution, loading and unloading. It covers road, rail, and maritime shipment activities for cold, hot, and frozen products. If a food manufacturer's operations include storage, transport, and shipment activities in-house, this standard does not apply, and IFS Food does instead. But if those services are sourced from another firm, this standard can be applied at those organizations.
