How to Obtain a Barcode

Barcode Registration
When you apply for a barcode, the company's product range and variations matter. If a cosmetics firm wants to register barcodes for its products, each product variation that needs separate pricing and stock tracking has to be listed individually. For example, a 1 kg detergent and a 2 kg detergent of the same type are treated as separate products, because the weight and price differ. The number of codes needed is determined against the product list, and the application is filed accordingly.
Required Documents
- Power of attorney
- Product list to be barcoded (number of products declared through the e-application system)
- Notarized undertaking (template provided) and the most recent annual income statement certified by your sworn financial advisor (SMMM)
- For newly incorporated firms: a photocopy of the Trade Registry Gazette in place of the income statement
- If the company has no revenue yet, a blank income statement plus a current activity document (chamber registration certificate) confirming the firm is still in operation
- Chamber Registration Certificate showing the firm is registered with the relevant Chamber of Commerce and Industry or Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen
