GMP FEFCO Product Types

The product types covered by the GMP FEFCO scheme, that is, the main families of corrugated cardboard boxes, are:

• Telescope type (telescope boxes with separate lid and base)
• Folder type (single-sheet folded boxes)
• Slide type (slide-and-tray boxes)
• Slotted type (the widely used Regular Slotted Container / RSC family)
• Self-erecting cases (pre-glued boxes that open into shape)
• Interior fitments (inserts, partitions, and dividers)
• Rigid type (boxes with strengthened walls for heavy or fragile goods)

Food-Contact Considerations

Each box type can be produced as either a primary or a secondary packaging element. For food contact, the choice of liner, flute, adhesive, ink, and coating is set against the GMP FEFCO requirements and the EU Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 framework for food-contact materials.

FEFCO Code Reference

FEFCO maintains a numerical box-code system widely used across Europe so that specifications are unambiguous across suppliers and buyers. During certification and supplier audits, Sistem Patent Kalite checks that manufactured boxes match the declared FEFCO code and the applicable GMP FEFCO hygiene controls.
