ISO Certificate

How to Check and Verify an ISO Certificate?

ISO is the abbreviation for the International Organization for Standardization. The organization was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. An ISO certificate is a document that proves businesses operating in different service sectors deliver their services in line with a defined standard, and confirms that they have the competence required in their field. Every certification process carried out under standards drafted by the ISO is referred to as ISO certification. ISO certificate verification is the lookup process used to find out the validity period of an ISO certificate already in hand.

The ISO certificate verification process matters because, by knowing the expiry date, you can plan the renewal in time. To carry out this lookup, you need the ISO certificate number.

One important thing to keep in mind: an ISO certificate is not issued to a product. It is issued to the business itself.

Under our ISO certification work, Sistem Kalite, our certification and testing consultancy firm, has been informing and certifying businesses since 1999.

Businesses build the ISO certificate system and put it into practice. If you want to verify an ISO certificate, the certificate clearly states (or should state) the name of the accreditation body that backs the certification body that issued it. Certificate numbers are also printed on the document. To check whether an ISO certificate is valid, organizations should first visit the website of the certification body that issued the ISO certificate. With the certificate number printed on the document, they can go to the accreditation body's website (or directly to the certification body's site) and use the lookup button there to enter the ISO certificate number and verify the validity period. Beyond this, there is no central ISO certificate verification system. Firms wanting to check whether a competitor has an ISO certificate need to know which certification body issued it and the certificate number.

An important point to add: organizations seeking an ISO certificate should obtain it from a certification body whose accreditation has been completed. Many certification bodies on the market today offer consultancy and certification for ISO 9001 and other ISO certificates. However, some bodies issue certificates under foreign accreditation that is not recognized by Turkish accreditation. If you intend to use the ISO certificates you hold with public bodies, it is essential that the accreditation be Turkish. Likewise, every certification body may not be accredited for every standard. For example, a body accredited for ISO 27001 may not hold accreditation for ISO 22000. As a result, if the accreditation of the certificate you obtain matters for your operations, run the verification step carefully. Sistem Kalite, our certification and testing consultancy firm, holds both international and Turkish accreditation.
