BRC Consumer Products Certification Process
Sistem Patent Kalite supports manufacturers through the full BRC Consumer Products certification process. The route is structured in defined stages, each with its own deliverables.
Risk Classification of BRC Products
Using the BRC scheme, the manufacturer identifies the product group for the products in scope. The classification is then confirmed by the certification body.
Group 1: products with specific legal and hygiene requirements, where a failure during normal operation could result in accidents causing serious injury or death.
Group 2: products where specific legal requirements, or a failure during normal operation, could result in serious injury or death.
Group 3: products with a set of product-centred legal requirements, where a failure during normal operation could cause accidents resulting in minor injury.
Group 4: products with no product-centred legal requirements and a very low risk profile.
Applying the Standard Requirements
The manufacturer reviews the standard's requirements that apply to the assigned product group and puts them into operation. Group 1 carries the most thorough and highest requirements.
Pre-Audit (Optional)
Our audit team runs a pre-audit to identify any gaps in the scheme's implementation before the formal certification audit.
Certification Readiness Review
The manufacturer completes a company information questionnaire that indicates readiness for certification. The audit team reviews the questionnaire. Any non-conformities are discussed and clarified by the manufacturer before the audit.
Certification Audit
Through an on-site review at the manufacturer's facility, our audit team confirms how effectively the standard requirements have been put into operation. The manufacturer receives the audit report in the format defined by BRC. Non-conformities identified during the audit are documented and must be closed out within 90 days. If that period is exceeded, a new full audit is required.
Certificate Issuance
When all criteria are met, the manufacturer receives the certificate evidencing conformity with the BRC Global Standard for Consumer Products. Depending on the product group, the certificate is valid for 1, 2, or 3 years.
Certificate Renewal
To renew the certificate, the full audit cycle is repeated after 1, 2, or 3 years, as set by the product group.
