GS Certificate Application Process
The GS certificate (Geprüfte Sicherheit, the German safety certificate) was established in 1977. The GS certificate is aligned with the CE marking. The application process for a GS certificate issued through Sistem Patent Kalite runs as follows:
GS certificate scheduling → opening meeting → application → technical meeting → sample testing → factory inspection.
Opening Meeting
At the opening meeting, the product engineers who file the application on behalf of the firm or agency set out the relevant standards and obtain the information required on the submitted forms.
Application
The applicant must submit to the relevant body all the data required for the product, including installation or application details and, for household appliances, the required information sheets and assembly diagrams.
Technical Meeting
Following the review, the testing body holds a technical meeting with the applicant's technical team.
Sample Testing
The standards against which the tests will be run are set. Tests are carried out either at the manufacturer's own laboratory or at a GS-authorised laboratory in the country.
Factory Inspection
The GS-issuing body then conducts the required factory-safety inspection.
