Turkey Hosts the Halal Industry

Helal’e Ev Sahipliği Yapıyoruz

Turkey is hosting the halal industry. The World Halal Summit taking place in Turkey brings activity across the Islamic-economy sectors under one roof. Its goal is to expand the 14 trillion lira halal market within the ecosystem and position Turkey as a central hub. The primary aim of the summit is to create the highest-level, best-attended platform where inspections, reports, and recommendations can be presented so that a common halal standard required and expected by Muslim consumers can be developed across every sector of the halal ecosystem. The summit also targets the prevention of misconduct in the halal space and supports moves and strategies in Islamic finance. It creates a forum for partnership among Muslim academics, manufacturers, service providers, halal certification, standardization and accreditation bodies, financial firms, and chambers of commerce and tourism.

The Top 10 Halal Product Exporters Are Non-Muslim Countries

At the Halal Trade and Market Strategies Conference held under the World Halal Summit, speakers noted that nearly every global consumer-goods company now holds halal certification. They also noted that no Muslim country ranks among the leading halal food exporters: the top 10 halal-export countries in the world are non-Muslim and together account for 85% of market share. Muslim countries hold around 15% of the halal-product market, with Malaysia and Indonesia leading that group.

Halal Products Create New Value Chains

Speakers said halal products are creating new value chains. A halal product is not limited to meat; it covers a much wider range. Pig-derived bone and hide-based materials, for example, appear in items ranging from color pencils to cosmetics, making the scope of halal application much broader than many assume.
