Turkey's First National Standardization Plan Approved
Turkey's first National Standardization Document and Action Plan has been approved. The plan, approved by the High Coordination Council, sets out the road map for standardization.
The document and action plan were prepared under the coordination of the Ministry of Technology, taking into account input from all relevant stakeholders. The plan sets 4 goals aimed at advancing Turkey's standardization system, along with 21 actions required to reach them.
Turkey's standardization vision is to have all stakeholders take an active role in standard development, to make the use of standards a core principle, and to reach a position of global influence where Turkey is a decision-maker on standards.
Under this vision, the goals are: to strengthen the standardization infrastructure, to secure active engagement of relevant stakeholders in standard development and to broaden the use of standards, to raise Turkey's global role, and to develop original standards tied to new technology products and to improving occupational safety and quality of social life.
The document sets out 21 actions to support these goals. Under the plan, Turkey's standardization road map for the industrial revolution (TR 4.0) will be put in place. Participation by government agencies, private organizations, and universities in standard development will be increased. Standardization-related courses and topics will be added to high school and university programs and curricula.
Alongside these steps, Turkey will increase the number of representatives it places in international and regional standard-setting bodies. Standards for new high-technology products have been developed.
