Halal Capital Certificate on the Way

A first-of-its-kind Halal Capital Certificate is in preparation. TSE (the Turkish Standards Institution) is developing the scheme, marking a global milestone in certification.

Companies and organizations that hold the certificate will be able to demonstrate that their products are produced with halal capital. Under this new scheme, Turkey is expected to become a global reference point for halal capital.

TSE, which already issues halal certificates for many markets, is setting a global first. The scheme has been in development for some time and is nearing completion. Business leaders who can prove that their capital is sourced from halal activities will be eligible to obtain the certificate.

Criteria Being Set

Certified organizations will be able to declare that they pay staff salaries using halal capital and that the products they offer consumers are produced with halal capital. Eligibility criteria have been set. Organizations will need to answer questions such as whether their capital includes interest income, whether employee payments are made on time, and whether outstanding debts to the state are settled even when the company holds cash. Audits will apply these criteria. Sistem Patent Kalite verifies compliance by contacting relevant institutions: for example, the Social Security Institution is consulted to confirm that a company pays employee insurance premiums regularly and pays wages on time.

A Global First

Under this new certification model, organizations will certify that their financial resources, the salaries they pay staff, and the products they produce all meet halal principles across every sector. Consumers will be able to use these companies' products with confidence. Business leaders will now be able to crown the halal status of their products with confirmation that their financial returns are also halal, via the Halal Capital Certificate.

A Hub for Halal Economy

The audit must confirm that a company's capital can be reviewed without compromising commercial confidentiality; transparency is another pre-condition for issuing the halal capital certificate. Once TSE finalizes the scheme, the plan is to formalize it in a way that can serve as a global model. Turkey aims to become the reference point for halal capital worldwide, matching its position in halal food.
