Amendment to the Occupational Health and Safety Law

The Occupational Health and Safety Law has been amended. Under the change, the requirement for public institutions and low-risk (less-hazardous-class) firms with up to 50 staff to retain a workplace safety officer and a workplace physician has been deferred to a later date.

Under the amended OH&S law, the earlier staff-count threshold of up to 9 employees has been revised to up to 49 employees.

Under Law No. 6331, the required health reports for firms in the low-hazard class with up to 49 employees can now be obtained from public health service providers or family physicians in addition to workplace doctors. The amendment also allows firms or their designated representatives in the low-hazard class with up to 49 employees to provide occupational health and safety services themselves, provided they complete the training specified by the Ministry.
